SLIG 2016: A Photo Recap; Day 5

Yes, boys and girls, another full day of learning southern research methods at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy. Seeing all the top genealogist from around the US and the world in one place is like a groupie backstage at a Led Zeppelin concert. After classes, I went back over to the Family History Library to delve into the microfilms for some marriage records. I found what I came for and a couple of other nuggets of information.

My companion for the microfilm readers was good friend Leslie Carney of Arizona. She picked out a row of readers that were empty and in the shadows…ooooh. But alas, it was because they were all left-handed machines! It didn’t phase me or her one bit. We stayed till almost closing time at 9:00 pm and then took the bus back to the Hilton. Oops, I forgot to do my homework assignment! I’ll just get up early and do it in the morning.

Listening to J. Mark Lowe from Tennessee with Kelvin Myers moderating

The three amigos - myself, Amy Urman and Leslie Carney

A snapshot outside the hotel during the day. Hardly any snow.

The surname map getting pretty full!

Good friend Valarie Lair got a paper cut in Dr. Jones' class.      Poor baby!

Microfilm research is always exciting!

I wonder how many microfilms there are in this library?

I hate threading the film into the readers!

I take pictures of the intro to the reels for reference.

I also take a picture of the index page with the person of interest.

My 2nd. great-grandparents marriage... happy dance!

It was very comfortable and not that packed tonight.

My little space.

A smile of contentment!

Adieu, until next year!

Back to the hotel for a good nights rest.
